Teach Me QuickBooks

I got this question from Ashley B. from Roanoke, VA. She asks: “I am a bookkeeper from Roanoke, VA. The company I work for just switched to QuickBooks Pro 2005 from Peachtree. I am not familiar with the features of QuickBooks, are they any training aids that you would recommend for a person with an accounting background (no QuickBooks for Dummies).”

What suggestions do you have for our bookkeeper?

Ashley,

The book that I have probably found most helpful is a book from PPC titled "QuickBooks Solutions - A Problem-solving Guide for Accounting Professionals." This book has a fabulous index. It also has easy to follow step-by-step instructions. The only thing is that the book is fairly expensive. The print version is $197.00 and it is available both online and on CD-ROM. If you want the binder updated, there is an annual upgrade fee, which I believe is moderately less than the original purchase. The Official QuickBooks Guide from Intuit Software is also pretty good, but has a "for dummies feel." However, it is much cheaper, around 35 bucks. You may even be able to get it cheaper if you shop around.
